The third-month Fair, a traditional festival of the Bai ethnic group in Dali, Yunnan Province, dates back1300 years to the Tang Dynasty.It lasts a week, from the15 th to the22 nd days of the third month by the Chinese lunar calendar.

As a single day for a fairy is a full year for ordinary mortals, people splash water once every year so that the twelve girls can clean themselves. This is said to be the origin of the Water-splashing Festival.
